Hospice Community Presentations

Hospice and Palliative Care... An overview of the principles and practice of palliative care and hospice. This includes the Medicare/Medicaid Benefit and the workings of the hospice interdisciplinary team.

Decide. Discuss. Document.... Explains the importance of advance care planning and the purpose of the following documents: Living Wills, Health Care Surrogates, Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions, and the role of the Do Not Resuscitate Order. Resource and referral material are available.

Grief and Bereavement... Wuesthoff Hospice & Palliative Care offers community grief support for non-hospice related deaths, children's grief support, Camp Hope, and "Coping with the Holidays After a Loss." Resource and referral information are available.

Journey of Love... A personal story of a hospice nurse who shares the experience of caring for her sister during her sister's last days. She explains the emotional, physical and spiritual support that Hospice provided for her and her family.

What My Grandma Taught Me - Reflections of a Hospice Nurse... In this inspiring presentation, one of Wuesthoff Hospice and Palliative Care's own nurses, Margaret Rogers, shares her grandma's homespun wisdom about life and death and how it applies to all of us today.

Volunteering: All you want to know and a whole lot more... Hospice began in the United States as a volunteer organization and has maintained its volunteer roots to this day. We utilize volunteers in a variety of roles from office assistance to Pet Therapy. Our coordinators are willing to train your group members to volunteer with us or for specific service within your own organization or congregation. Videos and DVD's... Wuesthoff Hospice's Community Outreach program has a number of video and DVD presentations you may incorporate into your own program. The videos and DVDs can be used in combination with a discussion from one member or a panel of Wuesthoff's Outreach Team. These films include: "Wit," "One Journey ... Many Voices," "And Thou Shalt Honor," and the four part series "On Our Own Terms, An Introduction to Hospice." New films are always being added to the collection. You may schedule a film, speaker or panel of speakers.
